Carly Fiorina assails Washington, Barbara Boxer as out of touch

SANTA CLARA, Calif. — Senate candidate Carly Fiorina on Saturday attempted to win over California Republicans by attacking two of their strongest dislikes — incumbent Democrat Barbara Boxer and a federal government she says is broken and on an out-of-control spending spree.
Fiorina is the former Hewlett-Packard chief executive making her first run at public office. The other candidates in the race — former congressman Tom Campbell and state Assemblyman Chuck DeVore — are well-known commodities among the GOP faithful.
Utah's House majority leader resigned from the Legislature Saturday, two days after acknowledging he paid a woman $150,000 to keep quiet about a nude hot-tubbing incident that took place a quarter century ago when she was a teenager.
