Budget reality bites

When it comes to budget cuts the Patrick administration has a habit of talking out of both sides of its mouth.

On Friday Gov. Deval Patrick’s top budget aide, Secretary of Administration and Finance Jay Gonzalez, bemoaned the struggles that cities and towns would endure should their aid from the state be cut. Patrick had very publicly pledged not to cut a dime of local aid in the coming fiscal year, which begins July 1.
