Five performing acts will be inducted into the the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame tomorrow at a ceremony at New York’s Waldorf Astoria hotel (Fuse TV, 8:30 p.m.). One rocked insanely hard: punk pioneers the Stooges. Two rocked more subtly, but left their mark: British Invasion band the Hollies and arty Genesis. Jimmy Cliff didn’t rock at all: He sang reggae, but the Hall of Fame has never had a problem stretching its boundaries. Which explains its otherwise mind-boggling embrace of ABBA.

i can buy into DIAMOND AND NEWMAN for their songwriting abilities.it\'s a terrible injustice to omit STEVIE RAY and TOM WAITS.however JIMMY CLIFF is more than deserving as he helped bridge raggae and rock.to dismiss him as you did shows a real lack of knowledge.a great prefomer and songwriter,he has worked with and inspired many of our top rock bands.look it up.another case in point is this years wise selection of BOBBY WOMACK.maybe not a rock star but certaintly a inspiration to many of the great english rock pioneers.his song,\"{i used to love her}but its all over now\" helped launch the STONES career.while i disagree with most of your other ommissions i will add one of my own.WARREN ZEVON,a talented writer and preformer whose songs also launched other careers.yeah, the HALL is not without its faults but much of it has to due with sales aka money and rock magazines and critics who have an agenda...selling magazines and newspapers.alot of blame to go around.

Have the Moody Blues made it yet? Have to check, but they get my vote.

Why don't they give an explanation to why such acts as Rush and Stevie Ray aren't in yet? It's insane that ABBA is in and the three wisemen from the grat white north, who still tour now and again and can still rock out (YYZ) don't get a whiff. Who's Lauri Nyro, or whatever her name is? YOu thinking The Commodores???? What are the criterias???

Good for Iggy and The Stooges after all this time.

The most glaring omission, again, is Roxy Music!

Ever seen the J Geils Band live? If you have, you got to wonder why they are not in.

The only one of the 15 I see as a 'glaring' omission is Rush. Vaughan will be in; he's only been eligible for a year or so. A distant 3rd would be Yes, I suppose. The others are, as they say, 'acquired tastes'. I'm sure they'll all get in eventually and the R'n'R HOF will have lost its meaning.

Jann Wenner's choices & omissions for his (ego-trip) R&R Hall of Fame are proof positive that his newfound gayness is a disease!

I could never figure the issue they have with Rush, and the same goes for Grand Funk Railroad and everyone you\'ve listed!!! It\'s not a passive omission but an insult to many great bands and musicians. I must credit them with one good move however, they located themselves in Cleveland, a place I will visit only if my flight is forced to land there by chance. I believe there\'s room for another rock h.o.f., one that is not run by the steaming pile of horse crap named \'Rolling Stone\'
